I’m a bit concerned at the moment that it won’t have enough content to go the distance long term, with only two enemy factions (so far as we know), procedurally generated levels that can feel a bit one-note, and no real live-service roadmap at launch, but with such a strong, effortlessly fun foundation, it’s definitely off to good start. With all the over-the-top gore and patriotic pageantry of Starship Troopers, Helldivers 2 is the kind of wonderfully silly shooter that me and my friends could easily lose many Friday nights to.
Use the environment. You've got big guns, you've got Stratagems, you've got reinforcements from teammates, but you've also got the environment to utilize. As you roam the map, you might find items you can pick up and throw, such as explosive tanks.
There's no need to check your cooldowns. Apart from shared Stratagems like Resupply, your personal Stratagems will always have the same cooldown time.
. However, if you're on the hunt for another battle between good and evil to sink your teeth into this year, it's worth looking at
A crude simulation of military leadership, the Commissar is augmented with slightly faster processing and a crude command subroutine. The Commissar stays out of combat if possible, as despicably cowardly as it is unequivocally non-sentient. Scout Strider

By far the biggest way Helldivers 2 switches things up from the original is by moving to the third-person perspective, and so far I’m pleasantly surprised how well that transition works. I was initially skeptical about the change given how much the bird’s eye view was part of the original’s DNA, but it only took a matter of seconds for my concerns to disappear. Getting closer to the action feels great and allows for some really hilarious moments, like when I accidentally called in an airstrike that took out the rest of my team or when I found myself surrounded by absolutely terrifying robots and used my jetpack to leap to safety.
We also learn a little bit about how important it is to strategize with your comrades to avoid lacking essential amour or equipment for certain enemies which you’ll inevitably need to face.
Helldivers 2 was first announced in May as a sequel to top-down shooter Helldivers, and is planned for release on PS5 and PC.
You'll need Super Credits to buy exclusive items in Helldivers 2's "Superstore" microtransaction shop, which rotates its stock every two days or so.
The quality level is high, presenting without obvious aliasing, even on the PS5 in its performance mode. The clouds are also volumetric in nature, at least at lower levels of the atmosphere, and resolve without distracting artifacting. Low-lying fog also appears to be part of the equation, with ground-level fog often giving planets a certain ethereal quality. Environmental density is impressive. There's a lot of scattered rocks, shrubs, and tufts of grass throughout the various planets. Given the size and scope of the game I have to imagine that procedural systems have been used extensively here, but the final results look quite conterraneo. Foliage in particular can be generously placed, with some especially verdant Helldivers 2 Gameplay garden worlds. I did note animation issues with the foliage on at least one planet but on a more macro level, lighting and assets come together to make each world feel distinct, giving each environment some nice vistas.
